What’s the Biggest Thing You Can 3D Print?
Share
Short answer: we can print parts up to 256 × 256 × 256 mm in one piece. That’s about the size of a basketball. Bigger models can be split into parts and joined together.
How big is 256mm?
About the length of a sheet of A4 paper’s short side plus a bit. Big enough for a helmet shell, a large planter, a desk organiser or a PC case panel.
What if my model is bigger?
Split it into parts. Most design software can cut a model into pieces, and many models on MakerWorld and Printables already come split. Upload each piece separately and join them once they arrive.
How to join the parts
- Super glue works well for PLA and PETG
- Pins or pegs in the design help line the parts up
- Sand the joins lightly for a cleaner finish
Will a big print cost more?
Yes. Price depends on how much plastic a part uses and how long it takes. A part twice as big in every direction uses about eight times the plastic. Upload your file to the quote tool for the exact price.
Tip: make sure your file is the right size before you upload. STL files don’t store units, so a model in inches can come out tiny. The quote tool shows the size, so check it first.
